A Call for Mission Trip Resources

Spring 2005 Hundreds of groups from all over the U.S., Canada, Australia, and the U.K. take a mission trip with Amor Ministries each year.  In our experience of getting to spend time with these groups, they put some of their best work into the devotional materials they use for their trip.

It makes sense.  For many people, their week-long mission trip with us each year is a spiritual mountain-top experience.  So group leaders save some of their best stuff for the time spent around a camp fire at night in Mexico or South Africa.

We want to share that stuff with you!

We already have some great resources to share, but we need a lot more.

What have you used on your mission trip that you could share with other group leaders?

What resources would you like to see?

Here are some ideas already given to us by various group leaders:

  • Pre-trip devotions.  What’s being used to prepare teams (physically, mentally, spritually) for their mission trip?
  • Trip devotions.  What are teams using for their time with God during their mission trip?
  • Debriefing questions.  What are teams talking about around the campfire each night?
  • Application questions.  How are teams using this experience to transform lives in their own communities?
  • Fund-raising.  How are teams raising the funds needed for their mission trip?
  • Whole church involvement.  How are teams involving the people in the church body at home who didn’t come on the trip?
  • Resources for parents.  What’s being given to parents to help them understand and apply the impact of the mission trip?
  • Cross-cultural interaction.  How are teams preparing to interact with the host community?

And, of course, their is a wealth of knowledge out there about the logistics and building aspects of the mission trip:

  • Building tips.  What tricks do teams have to make building easier?
  • Site management.  How do other group leaders involve their entire team in the building process?
  • Cooking.  What recipes are good for camping and what do groups bring for cooking equipment?
  • Before and after.  What do groups do in the U.S. on their way to or from Mexico?
  • Camping tips.  What do other groups bring for camping?

We hope to build an entire database for you to have the best experience possible – but we can’t do it without you contributing what you have!

Send us your stuff to alyde[at]amor.org and put “Trip Resources” in the subject line.
