It’s that time of year again! Baseball! This year Amor and the Padres will be teaming up for a great Amor Ministries 30^th Anniversary Celebration Event. On Labor Day, September 6, 2010, the Padres will be hosting the Dodgers and Amor will be there. Come out to the ballpark and celebrate with Amor. Even if you don’t care for baseball, come for the food and the fireworks afterwards. It will be a great way to end the summer.

Here’s the “catch”: If 1,000 people buy tickets for the game on behalf of Amor, then the founders of Amor get to go on the field for a pregame award presentation and a PA announcement during the game. This would give Amor an amazing platform to get our message out there.

The tickets are discounted from face value and every ticket that is sold on behalf of Amor, Amor will receive $2. You will need to buy your tickets online ahead of the game. If you purchase tickets at the door, they will not count towards our goal.

Come out to the ballpark and celebrate the work that Amor has been able to accomplish and the work that is still yet to come.

This game historically sells out fast so we want to make sure there are enough tickets left to reach our goal of a thousand people. Tell your friends that even if they don’t know Amor they can still put in the promo code and they’ll get 20% off their tickets. We will have an Amor tailgate party at the park 3 hours before the game where you can enjoy free hot dogs and claim your pre-ordered Amor gear. We would like everyone that has Amor gear to wear it and represent.

Amor Ministries aims to raise $240,000 through The Amor 54, a Golf Marathon consisting of 54 consecutive holes of golf in one day. The proceeds from The Amor 54 will directly provide Amor Ministries with the funds to build 100 homes for needy families in Baja California, Chihuahua, and Sonora.

Due to the publicized violence and H1N1 flu in Mexico, Amor Ministries has received hundreds of group mission trip cancellations. Those cancellations now total over 700 Mexican families that will not receive a home in 2009, unless we do something to change it now. All we need to do is raise the funds to provide the materials needed to build the Amor houses and our dedicated volunteers will physically build the houses. So, join in and support our cause by playing in The Amor 54!

Were you unable to come on an Amor Mission Trip this year?  Has the economy limited your giving?  Are you looking for a way to continue serving the people of Mexico after returning home from your Mission Trip?  Or do you enjoy a good meal?  Amor Ministries has a simple event that can make a big impact, and we would love for you to be a part of it!

The week of August 23-29, Amor Ministries will be “dining out for Mexico!”  Friends of Amor will come together all over the country to share a meal while raising funds to support Amor during this difficult financial time.  Each participating restaurant will donate a percentage of the sales to Amor.  The more people we have eating at the restaurants, the more money we earn, and more families will be impacted by the love of Christ and a new home!

Currently, there are two restaurant fundraisers scheduled in San Diego and possible locations in Portland, Dallas, Bakersfield, Nashville, and Columbus.  Get your friends together, enjoy a meal, and help build hope!  Keep watching for more details and locations.
